Domestic Violence and Orders of Protection

Domestic violence is a tragic reality in far too many families, and it has tremendous impact in divorce proceedings as well as in the criminal justice system. We represent clients regarding domestic violence and orders protection in both family law and criminal courts.

Post-Divorce Enforcement and Modifications

The divorce does not end with the court's final judgment. In many cases, one of the spouses does not follow the court's decree, or factors change in the parties' lives that requires the decree to be changed.

  • Enforcement of divorce orders: When one of the spouses is not following the court orders regarding support, custody or other matters, the other party can petition the court to hold that spouse in contempt of court.
  • Modification of divorce orders: In many cases, the circumstances of life change for one or both of the parties. When this happens, it can render the original divorce decree unworkable. Some examples include job loss, substantial promotions, changes in the children's needs and costs associated with caring for the children, and relocation.

Our Laurens County divorce lawyers represent clients in all aspects of enforcement and modification proceedings.
